Truncated hSlo-S0–S6 has a decreased half-life compared with hSlo. (A) Synthesis of the c-myc-tagged truncated protein hSlo-S0–S6 (37 kDa) induced by sodium butyrate. ³⁵S labeling and immunoprecipitation was as in Fig. 1A. (B) Transfected MDCK cells expressing either hSlo or the truncated hSlo-S0–S6 were labeled with 100 μCi/ml [³⁵S]methionine-cysteine for 18 h and then chased for the indicated times. The calculated half-life of hSlo was about 16 h whereas the hSlo-S0–S6 disappeared abruptly between 6 and 12 h of chase.
