Phase of introns involved in domain shuffling. The intron phases of exons that encode the C terminus of domain 1 and that of the N terminus of domain 2 were counted here. Although the phase 0 intron is dominant in the gene models of Homo and Branchiostoma, the phase 1 intron is dominant in the class II pairs. The intron phase of the class II pairs was analyzed using the human gene models. Details of the data are given in Supplemental Tables 5 and 7.
