The TEL bodies are assembled during the S phase. The growth of 293 cells transfected with HA-TEL and Flag-SUMO-1 was arrested in G1/S by addition of aphidicolin to the culture medium. After removal of the drug, the cells were cultured in normal medium and collected at the times indicated. An aliquot of the cells was observed by confocal microscopy, and the number of cells with TEL bodies was counted. The remaining cells were analyzed by flow cytometry.
