HAEC were incubated for 24 hrs without (control) or with 5 μg/mL lipopolysaccharide (LPS), or treated for 24 hrs with 100 μmol/L DFO and then incubated for 24 hrs with LPS (DFO+LPS). In addition, HAEC were incubated with 100 μmol/L ferric citrate for 48 hrs (Fe) or for 3 hrs with 100 μmol/L ferric citrate followed by addition of 100 μmol/L DFO and incubation for another 45 hrs (DFO+Fe).
