The mass and protein content of cells was measured as described in the Materials and Methods, and the percent of cells with 1, 2, 3, or more nuclei was measured by counts of DAPI-stained cells. After calculating the average number of nuclei per 107 cells, the mass and protein per 107 nuclei was calculated. All values are means ± SEM's from three or more independent assays. A * after a value indicates that the value was significantly different from the wild-type value with p < 0.05; ** indicates p < 0.01(1-way ANOVA, Dunnett's test).
