Isolated rat hearts were perfused with very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) or chylomicrons (CM) (0.4 mm TAG) prepared from lean control or obese diabetic rats together with [14C]glucose (11 mm). Afterload was maintained at 100 cmH2O and atrial filling pressure at 15 cmH2O; for further details see text. Results are expressed as means ±s.e.m. (n= 7 per group).
