Chronic treatment with venlafaxine (70 mg/kg per day) for 2 weeks did not affect norepinephrine transporter (NET) or serotonin transporter (SERT) expression in cerebral cortex or hippocampus, determined by radioligand binding (a, b) and SDS–PAGE/immunoblotting binding (c, d). However, a persistent antidepressant-like effect on forced-swim behavior was evident 2 days after the end of the chronic treatment period (e).
