Mechanism of antihypertensive action of arginine. Arginine improves insulin resistance and decreases advanced glycation end product (AGE) formation, increases nitric oxide production, decreases angiotensin II levels and reduces oxidative stress, resulting in improved endothelial function, and decreased peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure.
