Each data point represents the mean compensatory response to each incremental manipulation (three trials per shift value) averaged in blocks of 10 cent shifts during both upward and downward manipulations. Participants were required to match the musical target note G4 (392 Hz). The circles depict utterances that participants heard shifted downward; the squares depict utterances that participants heard shifted upward.
