Separate models omitting language of interview and substituting the composite language index and birthplace yielded similar effects. Greater English usage on the language index was significantly related to use of any services (OR=1.58*) and Alcoholics Anonymous (OR=1.85*); the association was nonsignificant though in the same direction for institutional treatment (OR=1.32, p=.25). U.S. nativity was significantly related to use of any services (OR=1.83*); associations were nonsignificant though in the same direction for use of Alcoholics Anonymous (OR=1.81) and institutional treatment (OR=1.44, p=.32).
