(a) Human IGF-1 levels in homogenates of various regions of the central nervous system were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. (b) Retrograde transport of the viral vectors was detected by reverse transcriptase-PCR analysis of various regions of the spinal cord and brain after administrating AAV1-IGF-1 and AAV2-IGF-1. Control AAV1-GFP-treated mice showed no expression of the human IGF-1 transcript. AAV, adeno-associated virus.
