Inhibition of monoacylglycerol lipase (MGL) activity by cysteine-reactive agents. Concentration–response curves for the inhibition of purified MGL overexpressed in Escherichia coli by (A) the maleimides N-arachidonylmaleimide (NAM) and NEM and by (B) the isothiazolinones octhilinone (1), 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (2) and 2-oleoyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (3). Results are expressed in percentage of activity in the presence of vehicle (dimethylsulphoxide, final concentration 1%) (mean ± SEM, n= 3–5).
