Expression of M. tuberculosis genes under the control of σB. (A) The expression of some M. tuberculosis genes found to be differentially regulated by σB in the DNA microarray analyses was confirmed by quantitative RT-PCR with SYBR green. The figure shows the arithmetic means ± standard deviations from three biological replicates. Results are expressed in logarithmic scale. The expression of each gene in strain H37Rv (black bars) or in the sigB mutant (white bars) was normalized to the expression of sigA. Expression levels of Rv1361c in nonstressed broth cultures, ideR in SDS-treated broth cultures, and Rv0251c in diamide-treated broth cultures are indicated.
