(A) pGAL1-PHO8 was transformed into wild type cells and strains with deletions of genes encoding the indicated transporters. ALP activities were assayed using cells grown in LZM plus 1 µM (−Zn, filled bars) or 300 µM (+Zn, open bars) ZnCl₂. (B) Wild type and zinc transporter mutants cells bearing pGAL1-PHO8 were grown overnight in LZM supplemented with the indicated concentrations of zinc and then assayed for ALP activity.
