Cryostat sections of fixed, frozen heads from mice on days E12.5–E14.5 were processed for expression of Wnt-10b transcripts by in situ hybridization with either an antisense Wnt-10b-specific riboprobe (A–C) or the sense (negative) control (D,E). On E12.5, as with Wnt-10a (Fig. 1), there was no detectable expression of Wnt-10b in the palatal shelves (A). On E13.5, expression of Wnt-10b was seen primarily in the epithelium of the palatal shelf (arrows). On E14.5, expression was detected in the disintegrating medial edge seam; compare (C) with (E).
