^aY. bercovieri, Y. intermedia group I, and Y. rohdei were identified as Y. enterocolitica by API 20E and identified earlier by amplified fragment length polymorphism analysis and subsequently by phenotypic analysis (15). The isolates of Y. frederiksenii/intermedia group II showed an API profile distinguished from that of isolates of Y. enterocolitica. These strains were grouped together with Y. kristensenii.
