View of the breast under partial compression by mammography-style compression plates with the patient slightly rotated away in order to show the apparatus. Here, the transducer holder was spring loaded in a frame attached to the paddle and moves above the compression plate with the transducer following the paddle surface. Notice that the transducer holder can be rotated about the vertical axis for scans at angles not parallel to the chest wall.
