Only admissions with a haematological diagnosis as the primary, secondary or ultimate reason for admission are included. The numbers with each diagnosis are greater than in the logistic regression model because admissions missing hospital outcome and readmissions are excluded from the regression analysis. AML: acute myelogenous leukaemia; ALL: acute lymphocytic leukaemia; APACHE: Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation; APS: Acute Physiology Score; CI: confidence interval; CMLL: chronic myelogenous or chronic lymphocytic leukaemia; ICNARC: Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre; ICU: intensive care unit; IQR: interquartile range; SD: standard deviation. aExcluding readmissions within the same acute hospital stay.
