The Δssb1Δssb2 mutant and the glucose repression mutant Δreg1 display a defect in the rapid inhibition of translation initiation upon glucose depletion. Glucose-grown wild-type, Δreg1, and Δssb1Δssb2 strains were collected at an OD600 ≈ 0.4. Cells were immediately resuspended in YPD or YP lacking glucose and were incubated on a shaker for 10 min. Ribosome profiles were generated as described in the Materials and Methods. Peaks representing the small ribosomal subunit (40S), the large ribosomal subunit (60S), monosomes (80S), and polysomes are indicated.
