The RT-PCRs gave products sizes of 1.6 and 1.7 kb for P. profundum SS9 and E. coli, respectively, indicating that the four genes are transcribed together. The negative control lacks reverse transcriptase, confirming that the RNA sample is free from contaminating genomic DNA, whereas the positive control contains only genomic DNA.
