Subclinical disability score = number of activities in which accommodations but no difficulty reported. Calculated as total for all VLAs, and for VLA categories (obligatory, committed, and discretionary). To predict increase in HAQ and VLA total disability score, total subclinical disability score was used. To predict increase in obligatory, committed, and discretionary VLA disability, obligatory, committed, and discretionary subclinical disability scores, respectively, were used.

Increase defined as presence 0.5 SD increase in HAQ or VLA scores between 2004 and 2006.
