The spermatophore is the sperm- and accessory gland fluid-filled package that male crickets produce and hold externally (A) prior to copulation. During copulation, the male transfers the spermatophore (B) to the female via threading the tip of the spermatophore duct (see arrow in B) into the reproductive tract of the female. The white material inside the spermatophore in (B) is the ejaculate.
