The abundance of EJAC-SP protein in a spermatophore (taken from a male just prior to being allowed to copulate successfully with a virgin female) predicts a male's ability to induce a female to lay eggs. The difference between saline- and ejacsp-dsRNA injected males was also significant (P = 0.0346).
