Comparison of the mean (±SEM) normalized lick ratios for various concentrations of NaCl in WT (dash line) and P2X2/P2X3Dbl−/− mice (solid line) during brief-access testing. Lick ratios were normalized by dividing the mean number of licks for each taste solution by the mean number of licks for water. The normalized lick ratios (ordinate) are plotted against the corresponding concentration of NaCl (abscissa). WT mice avoid concentrations of 300 mM and higher whereas the P2X2/P2X3Dbl−/− mice do not. ***P < 0.001.
