Comparison of water-deprived WT and P2X2/P2X3^Dbl−/− mice on a CTA test with the artificial sweetener SC45647. Lick rates for each taste solution were normalized as a ratio by dividing the mean lick rate for each taste solution by the mean lick rate for water. The mean (±SEM) normalized lick ratios (ordinate) are plotted against the corresponding concentration of SC45647 (abscissa). The 0 mM scores were derived from 2 water trials selected from those preceded by at least one other rinse trial. LiCl-injected WT mice learned to avoid concentrations of 0.025, 0.05, and 0.1 mM when conditioned with a CS of 0.05 mM SC45647. P2X2/P2X3^Dbl−/− mice did not. *P < 0.025.
