The three major absorbers of light in tissue are oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin (HbO2 and HbR) and melanin (shown on log scale, from [6] and [7]). Reduced scattering coefficient (linear right-hand axis) is estimated as μs=Aλb where A = 1.14 × 10−8 and b = 1.3 for tissue [8].
