COX-2 and ICAM-1 expression induced by Ucn1 occurred in a time-dependent manner in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated rat aortic endothelial cells. In the presence of LPS (10 µg·mL⁻¹), cells were pretreated with Ucn1 (10⁻⁷ M) and incubated for the durations shown. (A) COX-2 and ICAM-1 mRNA expression induced by Ucn1 reached their peak at the time point of 4 h. (B) Ucn1 promoted COX-2 and ICAM-1 protein expression with significant effects at the time point of 8 h. Similar results were obtained from more than three independent cultures, and a representative experiment is shown.
