Fittings of the SPR binding results of DAPI with an 8-bp stem DNA hairpin containing a TCTC loop. The data were fitted with a two-site model using Eq. 1 or Eq. 2. The two fitting curves overlap on top of each other, and the fitted parameters illustrate the relationship: K1= (K1*+K2*) and K2 = (K1*×K2*)/(K1*+K2*). The macroscopic binding constants are practically the same as the site binding constants (K1=K1*). This is expected since K1* is much greater than K2*.
