van der Pol oscillator: A sample path of the van der Pol oscillator (as a function of time and in state-space) is shown. In this example, the deterministic variant of the system is stable and possesses a limit cycle. The sample path $(T=5\times {10}^3)$ shows four periods of the quasi-limit cycle, following a short transient (point $A_1$) converging towards the attractor manifold.
