IQR-OS = Interquartile Range Overlap Statistic. MA=Metropolitan area. IQR=Interquartile Range. All proportion and segregation variables are coded from 0 to 1 (a one-point increase is interpreted as an increase 0-100%); Median income: 1-point increase is associated with a $10,000 increase. % growth variables: 100% growth is coded as 1, 200% growth is coded as 2, etc. The log of MA population size ranges from 13.2 to 16.1. The reference group for the Region indicator variable is Midwest. Regression analyses are weighted by the MA population size. Neighborhood poverty median and IQR variables were not included in the regression analyses because the IQR-OS is a function of these numbers computationally. Higher values of IQR-OS indicate greater degree of overlap of neighborhood poverty distributions between racial/ethnic groups.

“Minority” refers to blacks in Models 1-2, and refers to Hispanics in Models 3-4.
