Trunk varices | Dilated, tortuous trunks of the long or short saphenous vein or their first or second order branches |
Reticular varices | Dilated, tortuous, subcutaneous veins not belonging to the main trunk or its major branches |
Hyphenweb varices | Intradermal varices (venous telangiectasia) |
All three categories were graded depending on the degree and extent of tortuosity and prominence of veins by using standard reference photographs
