Effects of the three CP mutants on BMV RNA1 and RNA2 accumulations. N. benthamiana was agroinfiltrated to express RNA1, RNA2, and either WT or mutant CP from A-pCP or the empty expression vector (Vec.). The RNAs were identified by Northern blot analysis using probes to the 3′-UTRs of the BMV RNAs. Quantifications were determined by phosphorimage analysis and were normalized for the input RNA, as estimated by the staining of cellular RNAs (cRNA). The accumulation of the minus-strand RNAs (not shown) parallels that of the plus-strand RNAs.
