The effect of temperature on detergent phase partitioning. The phase separation for a particular detergent:PEG:salt combination was recorded 7 days post setup at 20°C, followed by transferring the plate to 4°C for an additional 7 days so that the effect of temperature on phase partitioning could be monitored. A shift in the phase boundary curve was observed for some, but not all of the detergent:PEG:salt combinations that were tested. Examples are depicted for the combination of: (A) 0.5% C₈E₄, PEG 4000, LiCl, and (B) 1% β-OG, PEG 4000, LiCl.
