Lung fibroblast proliferation is attenuated by acid treatment of MSC-CM. Quiescent NHLF were incubated with acid-treated (Act.) or untreated (Inact.) MSC- and NHLF-CM for 48 h. BrdU incorporation was measured by ELISA and showed that activated TGF-β reduced the proliferation induced by CM.
