Luciferase expressing MaSCs are observed in two locations: a basal position, indicated by red arrows, and a luminal position, indicated by black arrows. (D) Control staining of luciferase in non-transgenic mouse. (E,F) Staining of 3-week-old luciferase transgenic mouse mammary glands revealed an increased number of luciferase expressing MaSCs in terminal end buds. (G–I) Reconstituted glands from 1000 sorted CD24+CD29hi P4 cells (G) singe GFP+ (H) or 500 GFP+ (I) sorted cells all showed that the luciferase expressing transplanted cells were found to differentiate into non-luciferase expressing cells as they reconstitute the gland.
