Activated human neutrophils oxidize GSSG. GSSG (5 μm) was incubated with phorbol ester-activated human neutrophils (1 × 106/ml) in HBSS buffer (pH 7.4) at 37 °C for 1 h (Complete). After the cells were pelleted, the supernatant was collected and macromolecules were removed with a 3,000-Da cutoff spin filter. Reaction conditions were varied as indicated. The resulting supernatant was analyzed by LC-MS.
