GS-HNE stimulates acute peritonitis. To assess murine peritonitis, GS-HNE, free HNE or GS-DHN were injected intraperitoneally (each 10 µg) and the lavage was collected after 4 h. Total PMNs were determined by differential analysis using Wright–Giemsa staining (A) and confirmed by FACS analysis using PE-conjugated anti-Gr-1 antibodies (B; GS-HNE>>>GS-DHN>HNE). Results are presented as mean ± SEM and are representative of at least three independent experiments (n= 3–4) ***P < 0.001.
