Euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp study. Control (KO) and Acsl1L−/− mice fed a high fat diet for 3 weeks were studied after 16 h of food deprivation. With an infusion of 2.5 milliunits of insulin/kg/min, plasma glucose was maintained by an intravenous variable 20% glucose infusion, and rates were determined for glucose infusion rate and peripheral glucose uptake (A), basal and clamp hepatic glucose output (B), and glycolysis and glycogen synthesis (C). Results are expressed as means ± S.E. (n = 10 for each genotype).
