Kinetic isotope effects for the reaction of Tq (top) and 3-pyr (bottom) with h4-DHA (solid lines) and d4-DHA (dashed line) at similar concentrations. The reactions were performed in PrCN at −70 °C. Kinetic traces were measured at 840 nm for Tq and 775 nm for 3-pyr, which reflect the concentration of the Fe oxidants. The traces were normalized and adjusted for minor baseline shifts. Rate constants for Tq: k1 = 4.4 × 10−5 s−1 (h4-DHA) and k1 = 1.1 × 10−5 s−1 (d4- DHA). For 3-pyr: k1 = 5.7 × 10−3 s−1 (h4-DHA) and k1 = 3 × 10−5 s−1 (d4-DHA)
