TST positivity is associated with upregulation of Foxp3 mRNA and downregulation of RORγt. A PBMC from TST+ (n = 10) and TST− (n = 10) patients were stimulated with PPD (10 μg/ml), Mtb CFA (10 μg/ml), or anti-CD3 (5 μg/ml) for 24 h, and Foxp3 and RORγt mRNA levels were measured by real time RT-PCR. Results are shown as fold change over media control. P values were calculated using the Mann-Whitney test. B Correlation between PPD- and Mtb-induced levels of Foxp3 and RORγt mRNA is shown as X-Y scatter plots.
