Induction of PMN necrosis by LL-37. (A–D) Freshly isolated human PMN were incubated for 20 h over a range of LL-37 concentrations before analyses. Primary necrosis was induced by heating at 65°C for 30 min. Cell death was examined by FACS analyses and TEM morphology. (A) Apoptotic (FITC-AV-positive, PI-negative), necrotic (FITC-AV-positive, PI-positive), and live (FITC-AV-negative, PI-negative) cells were enumerated.
