Coefficients and standard errors in parenthesis for linear regression of days per week FP feels lonely on covariates are shown. Observations for each model are restricted by type of relationship (e.g., the leftmost model includes only observations in which the FP is a male) – all LPs in this table are friends who live within two miles. Models were estimated using a general estimating equation with clustering on the FP and an independent working covariance structure (Liang & Zeger, 1986; Schildcrout & Heagerty, 2005). Models with an exchangeable correlation structure yielded poorer fit. Fit statistics show sum of squared deviance between predicted and observed values for the model and a null model with no covariates (Wei, 2002).
