(B–E) In wild-type blastoderm embryos, an oys-specific probe detects strong maternal expression (B); oys RNA is not detectable in the germ cells (arrow). Later in embryogenesis, zygotic oys expression is detected ubiquitously (D). This expression is abolished in embryos produced by oysΔ67 parents (C and E).
