Proliferation rate of myoblasts after transfection. Myoblasts were seeded at equal density and cultured in growth media for 4 days after transfection with control and targeting ssODNs. Cells number was measured daily and growth rate of cells transfected with ssODNs was compared with that of control transfected (‘-ssODN’) cells at each time point analyzed. Cells transfected with ssODNs grew at slower rate compared with control transfected cells. No significant differences were detected in cultures transfected with nonmethylated and methylated ssODNs. *P ≤ 0.001.
