Delayed-enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance for identification of myocardial necrosis and determination of viability. Normal myocardium is nulled, or black (b), while gadolinium contrast appears bright in infarcted myocardium (a). Transmural necrosis is identified at the inferior and inferoseptal segments of the midventricle, denoting the absence of viability.
