gct and cct dissociate growth from temporal control of early embryo patterning. A summary of the results presented in this manuscript. During early embryogenesis, growth (i.e. cell division) proceeds at the same rate in wild-type, gct and cct embryos (gray bars). By contrast, radial patterning in gct and cct embryos is delayed for several days compared with wild type (dashed black bar), after which it resumes normally (solid black bar). gct and cct embryos express markers for STM, PHB, FIL and WOX5 consistent with their stage of morphogenesis (i.e. normally), whereas expression of markers for KAN1, KAN2 and the vascular enhancer trap E2331 is delayed both temporally, and with respect to the morphology of the embryo.
