Circular structure is the reference sample with T2 at approximately 300 μsec which, similar to bone, is visible only on radial MR images. Images obtained in 40-year-old healthy subject (top row) display noticeably thicker cortex than in 80-year-old subject (middle row) or in 52-year-old patient with ROD (bottom row). Images in patient with ROD display effect of increased cortical bone porosity.
