Nontransplanted BALB/c mice were lethally irradiated (XRT) (8.5 Gy), and CD45 thymic stromal cell subsets were analyzed for Fas and DR5 on days 1 and 3 (A) and intracellular cFLIP expression on days 0, 1, 3, and 6 (B) by flow cytometry. On day 0, mice were analyzed 4–6 hours after exposure (mean ± SEM). Nonirradiated BALB/c mice served as controls. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.001 versus control; combined data from 2–3 identical experiments. Gating for percentage of expression was based on isotype controls, with limits set at 2%. n = 5–13/group for DR5 and Fas expression; n = 15–17/group for cFLIP expression; combined results from 2 to 3 identical experiments.
