Down-regulation of Kidins220/ARMS in hippocampal neurons alters normal dendrite development. A, hippocampal neurons were transfected with GFP-shC (a) as control or GFP-sh2 Kidins220/ARMS-specific shRNA (b). After 5 DIV, neurons were fixed and immunostained for the dendritic marker MAP2 (red). Similar to non-transfected neurons, GFP-shC neurons developed normal dendrites, whereas GFP-sh2 neurons displayed aberrant MAP2-positive processes. Compare the green neuron where Kidins220/ARMS has been knocked down with the neighbor neuron. Scale bar, 20 μm.
