Delayed senescence in the 26SP mutant rpn10-1. (A) Dark-induced senescence. Cotyledons were detached from 5-days old wild type and rpn10-1 seedlings, and incubated in water in darkness for the designated time periods. Senescence was followed by measuring chlorophyll content of 10 cotyledons per time point. Total chlorophyll content was determined as in,³⁸ and expressed as relative units (rel. units). Data are presented as mean ± SeM (n = 3). Insert shows cotyledons at the beginning of the experiment (start) and at 9 days into the treatment. (B) Senescence of siliques on inflorescences of wild type and rpn10-1. Individual flowers were tagged at anthesis along the primary inflorescences of wild type and mutant plants. A series of siliques were collected according to the denoted days after anthesis (DAA).
